Tenerife – Solo Traveller or first time visitor guide and tips.
Tenerife is part of the Canary Islands and sites of the Western Sahara. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kS8k6k67M8M5SR7W9
So yeah that's where you are going. The weather is pretty much warm throughout the year. Even if you check the weather apps it's generally a lot warmer and sunnier than they say. Check this link for Los Cristianos beach. https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/espana/canarias/santa-cruz-de-tenerife/playa-los-cristianos.html
Most people will fly into Tenerife South Airport and from there you will make your way to the resort and accommodation you are staying. If you are going to Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje or Las Americas and you are buy yourself or maybe another I really would recommend getting the No.40 Bus outside the airport and paying 3.75 Euros per person to Los Cristianos either by cash or card and there is space on board for luggage. This is a regular reliable service and drivers speak good enough English. https://titsa.com/index.php/en/ I would also use the Titsa app if you feel like exploring a little.
Accommodation you can get via Travel agents, Booking.com, Google Maps etc. I tend to look on these sites and then see if the hotels have a Website of their own and book directly.
Why is Tenerife so good for Brit's. Tenerife has the warm weather and sun. There is quite a lot of Ex Pats as they say staying there. Drink is pretty cheap and there is a lot of pubs which show UK Football etc. Restaurants if you are after British food yes you can get that too. If you are after some Tenerife and Spanish food there is also plenty of that too and you really should try to have some of the local dishes which include a lot of seafood.
There are lots of excursions and whether hose be out in the hills or out in the ocean to see the dolphins and whales its definitely worth trying.
Safety wise, it does have certain issues as with any other place, so always be on your guard. An area called Victoria's strip is not really recommended for the solo traveller after 6pm where it really does become full of undesirables trying to offer you drugs and perhaps getting you into one of the nearby bars. You should be on your guard, be careful with your phone and wallet / purse. During the day you will have a lot of mainly Africans trying to sell you things such as beach towels, handbags, jewellery such as wristbands for free. Nothing is ever free so you should really avoid taking anything. If you do decide to buy anything then you should have in your head that you should be haggling, do not take the first price.
